Hi Arun & Nagarjuna, I'm sending this in hope that the "wavy" logo on the Forum gets kicked out. That seems to be a bit to weak for a logo for such a strong movement.
Khuzaima suggested that the logos be in red as it reflects a revolution -- I had sent him a set of fluidly colored images, which came back with the reply "too feminine".
So this is what I have got -- please put in if you like it.
This looks good. Could you move the `F' a little closer to `r'.

Just apllied a wave filter (6 amplitude x 250 wavelength) to the banner. Just see.

I've made the change suggested and also added a middot to the space between freedom and matters. I'm gonna be real busy this week so I'll send Nagarjuna my source XCF files.
Please don't make this look less "Upright and Strong". IMHO this logo conveys the impression of "Written in Blood" . Also a couple more interesting images for the article header.
I took a close look at Squishdot -- it will need extensive hacking to look cool -- but that is not of concern now. Make forum popular .... and Zoyd might just get enough hackers to make an Indian CMS.
IMHO Forum should be announced in I(G)LUG lists too....
I think this is the best place to continue a flamewar without cramming each other's mboxes. I think we have to put something provocative there to get a good audience.
I'm working on a "why GPL matters" article for the Forum.

I have updated the site with the new logo sent by Gopal. We need to work on the stylesheet to get matching colors with the title. Do have a look. Should I send the announcement?

I have a problem with this new Freedom Matters caption (Gopal, no offence :) It looks like it has been done using crayons and, by implication, lacks maturity.
I think the original was better.
Unfortunately, I have exactly ZERO skills with Gimp or any other drawing tool for that matter -- so I can only comment. I hope I will be forgiven for this :)

Suggest a graphic design -- and I can do it (almost). I think as far as Text Logos go , I'm gimp !.
I want something like "a solid bevelled text , preferably in <font> , in <color> and with|without shadow. The text should be <text> ".
Then I can deliver to all your expectations.

I can't think of any right now. All I am saying is that the earlier one was alright and, as the Americans like to say, "if it ain't broken, don't fix it!"
Vinay's idea of the mashaal however, is quite appealing.

Anyway I quit this whole gimp stuff -- have some *real* work to do.

Indeed! Let us put aside the graphics stuff for the moment and come up with a solid page design as urged by Arun.
We might as well concentrate on what we *can* do rather than what we can just *try* doing :)
Am still going through the oswd templates pointed to by Vinay (and Arun) to see if there is something suitable there.
Regards, Khuzaima
Just an idea. Freedom Matters has something to do with the movement. So why not have a burning torch(mashaal) as a logo. Those good at the GIMP can try drawing a torch. I'll try drawing it too. And maybe the text 'Freedom Matters' can be done to match the torch's look. Thanks, Vinay Pawar, Pune.

This is a very good idea. In fact, the `mashaal' can take the place of the exclamation point after Freedom Matters!
Khuzaima
I've made two mashaal drawings. http://zoyd.tomk32.de/gnu/fmlogo.html
I hope you folks like it. Thanks, Vinay Pawar, Pune.
