At last the volunteer product is ready. This can be used with very few modifications for the Business directory also. This Zope product is released under GPL. Please visit the instance of the product at http://forum.gnu.org.in/Volunteers/
Use it and give your feedback.
This product is developed by a freelance student friend of mine, Mr. Rajendra Shastrakar, who will also be on the fsf-web. So if there are any problems you may post them.
If you find it OK, please do make a link in the main page of fsf-india.

Good work Rajendra!
Feedback:
The "webmaster" link on the front page is broken.
Trying to submit a phone number including area code generates an error:
Error Type: ValueError Error Value: A long integer was expected in the value '0484-xxxxxx'
Maybe it should use a string type for the phone number?
This can be used with very few modifications for the Business directory also.
Is Rajendra already working on that :) ?
If you find it OK, please do make a link in the main page of fsf-india.
Done.

Those who register for the business directory should not be considered volunteers. The purpose of the business directory is for free software businesses to publicize themselves and help free software users find an appropriate business for their needs. The term volunteer should therefore not be used in this directory.
Secondly, I don't think it is necessary to distinguish between individuals and organisations in the business directory. Even an individual businessman usually has a name for his business or consultancy.
The listing of entries in the business directory needs lot more information than the sample application shows. Please remember that unlike the volunteer directory which will usually need to be accessed by people at FSF-India (who have management access to the zope database and hence can see all the fields) the business directory is primarily meant for viewing by the general public. Thus no fields should be considered private and all information entered by a registered business must be displayed at the time of listing.
Please give some further thought to my inputs in the earlier mail based on our experience with the FSUG-Kochi business directory.

Well if u mean that it should be a drop down list .. eg. if i select maharastra on state list then list of city should also change respectively.I think this could be added in further version .Wot u say?
If anyone has any other suggestion lemme know

No, nothing so fancy :) Just that the city and state should have their own text field so that the listing can be easily sorted according to city/state.

Hi,
The mixing of the Volunteer directory and Business directory is very confusing. These are two completely unrelated directories serving two completely different purposes.
The Business directory should have its own home page with the options "Register", "Update entry (Login)" and "List directory."
Similarly for the volunteer directory. Volunteers can only be individuals.

BTW if we have the volunteer directory ready, will have to announce the list.

Well, It is easy to separate out both dir. both objects are realatively separate. only they are kept on same page .. if someone can cut/paste it (links) on other page , this problem could be sloved .
BTW i dont think there are many ppl signed on business dir. So i think it make sense to keep it simple . Anyway changes can always be made to current product.
Cheers Raj

Thanks for the prodding :) I have separated the two and the bizdir is now available at http://forum.gnu.org.in/bizdir
If there are no problem reports or objections, shall I link to it from our home page?

Oh that is because we haven't announced it anywhere! The only people who know about it are the handful of friends on this list.
Once we are ready, I think Dr. Nagarjuna will be announcing both the business directory and the volunteer directory on the FSF-India announcement list and other relevant free software related lists of India.
Regards, and thanks and kudos again for the great work on the directory development, Raj.
Nice work!

Yahh
1. I think 'Update entry' anchor ( on left side@ home) points to login ..so i should be renamed as login 2.It seems u have copied all the users ( acl_folder ) from Volunteers ( individual ) product. Should it not be removed...
