Welcome aboard Nikhil. We need help on following things. Help whereever you can.
Do you know anyone from organizing body of LinuxAsia? I want to get the firm answer from them about the stall space for FSF India. Tomorrow I am going to talk to them on phone and if I don't get anything firm, on Saturday I will go to their office in Noida. Printing posters have to be postponed till we get assurance for stall space.
So far we have four members:
Sameer N. Ingole - Gurgaon Amol U. Hatwar - Gurgaon Mishi Chowdhary - ?? Nikhil Prabhakar - ??
We are planning to do round robin and attend talks in the process. At any given time there should be at least one person at stall to attend the visitors. Also if we get a PC we will be installing GNU software on GNU/HURD and keeping it on display.
For this installation we will need CDs and DVDs of GNU/HURD and other GNU software that I don't have at the moment. GCC certainly will be one and if possible working GCJ. Of course all these things depend on we getting a PC there like we got one in FOSS.IN.
I should receive handouts of FSF India and SPACE soon. Guys at Thiruvananthapuram will be sending them in. To attract people I am also planning to get a banner printed on flex (somebody please step in for the design please) and ask people to sign on it to mark the presence.
I will be paying for poster printing. Anyone for banner on flex, CDs DVDs of GNU HURD and other GNU software?
Any suggestions, inputs, criticism, advice.. ?
Regards,
Sameer,

GNU/Hurd is good. What about GNU/Linux ;) I guess we can keep a Debian box and show off some of the awesome free software that we have [blender, GNU classpath, gnash, etc. for example].

I guess the LA guys will provide a PC for sure. Better ask them about that too.

I volunteer to do the Flex banner design. Let's see if I get some time in the next couple of days, I might come up with some Inkscape foo.

How much does that cost? May be FSF-I itself can pay? Regards, BG

Okay fine. I will check out what we can do about this.
Debian 3.0r5 DVD x86 binary only (300 Rs) 1 disk Debian 3.0r5 CD x86 binary only (450 Rs) 9 disks Debian 3.1r0a Cd x86 binary only (800 Rs) 14 disk
Well, there is no point buying the CDs from linuxbazaar.com as they are already selling with a huge premium. Nikhil has the Debian 14 CD set, I guess we just need to get hold of the DVDs. I hope ILUG-D will be of some help in this regard. Nikhil, shoot a mail to ILUG-D and see if you can manage the Debian DVDs and get a few copies burnt. Regards, BG

Do check out as to what iLUG-D are making copies of and whether they can share the resources for FSF-D to make number of copies. In all previous editions of the event, iLUG-D has been of good help in ensuring that the stalls are proper in the .org area - do have a talk with them if you can.

I've various disros of GNU/Linux with me.I think there is no point in buying distros. We can share our resources. In any case I'm always ready to download more distros/frees softwares/speeches/talks on my 128kbps bandwidth :-)
Regarding burning CDs if volume is not too high we can even volunteer for burning CDs.

We can't sell _any_ distro as we can't guarantee that they contain only free software. Debian & the Ubuntu single CD can be done. Talk to ILUG-D about Debian DVDs. They might even provide some insight as to how many CDs/DVDs we should burn.
Regarding burning CDs if volume is not too high we can even volunteer for burning CDs.
It won't be too high. Talk to ILUG-D about this. And since Canonical would be present in LA, I guess we can skip selling Ubuntu CDs as I guess they'd be giving away a lot in any way. Regards, BG
